image021Asia Society announced the winners of the 2016 Best Asian Pacific American (APA) Employer Awards at its 8th Diversity Leadership Forum on June 9, 2016 in New York. The awards honor employers at the forefront of promoting and developing APA talent.

AT&T was named the Best Employer for Promoting Asian Pacific American Women – the first recipient of this new category by Asia Society. Attending the forum were Abhi Ingle, AT&T Senior Vice President and APCA National Advisor; Matt Mui, AT&T Director of Innovation & Strategy and APCA National President; and Mohammed Farshori, previous OASIS National President. When accepting the award, Abhi spoke on behalf of the company by saying, “We’re a company with almost 280,000 people. So for us, diversity is a way of life . . . We have a number of senior programs geared specifically at making sure that people coming from underprivileged minorities have a way to get to these senior leadership [positions], and I think that makes all the difference.”image022

AT&T also received Distinguished Performance recognition for Best Employer for Asian Pacific American Employee Resource Groups. This rating recognizes the outstanding contributions and leadership by our three APA ERGs: APCA, FACES, and OASIS. Matt Mui, APCA National President, said, “Once again, our AT&T ERG members have shown their leadership and the importance of making a difference. I’m really honored to share this recognition with you.”

image024The awards were based partly on the results of the 2016 APA Corporate Survey – the only employee poll that exclusively measures the leadership success of APAs at Fortune 500 companies. Scores from a panel of expert judges were also added to determine the finalists and winners of these awards.

AT&T also received Best Practice Citations in these categories:
